Yellow Pea and Ham Soup

Thick winter soup

WHAT YOU NEED:

500gr yellow spilt peas

ham bones (hocks are also good)

diced onion

water

salt & pepper to taste

 

HOW TO MAKE IT:

soak yellow peas for a few hours in warm water, drain and rinse

while they are soaking....1/2 fill large soup pot with water. Add onion and bones.

cook until any meat falls from bone. strain meat out and dice

add diced meat back to soup and add yellow peas

Simmer on medium heat for approx 3 hrs

 

PRESENTATION:

serve in a bowl with a swirl of sour cream and trim of parsely
